I’m having a hard time sitting still. The One of a Kind Spring Show opens in four days and my eagerness to get shopping is taking over my waking hours. I’m finding it hard to concentrate as I recall all my past purchases and wonder what my favourite vendors like The Candi Factory, Mandala Design and Stella Bijoux, will lure me into their booths with this time around. I know there will be something, there always is.
For those of you unfamiliar with The One of a Kind Show and Sale, here’s a rundown: twice a year, — spring and winter — artisans from across the country and some from just south of the border gather at The Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place in downtown Toronto to sell their unique and fantastic crafts. We’re talking 450 artisans offering food, fashion, toys, home decor, art and so much more.
Although slightly smaller than the Christmas show, the Spring show is definitely my favourite – so fresh, so colourful, so welcoming. It’s like the first sign of summer. Plus, I can’t get enough of all the cute dresses, even if I have nowhere to wear them.
While I visit my top tier of vendors, I’ll also be checking out new and fab products for the pages of MySweetBaby. I’m already taking notes of whom not to miss. Here’s a sneak peek:
Patouche: spring line of flutter sleeve tops for girls and pirate shorts for boys.
Red Thread Design: colourful Asian fabrics turned into girls’ clothing.
Newcomer Poids Plume: bedding ensembles, with their simple graphics and gentle colors, will be gracing cribs in no time.
Newcomer Rare Birds Clothing: charming vintage-inspired designs for girls.
The One of a Kind Spring Show runs March 31 to April 4.
