It’s here, it’s here, it’s finally here! The One of a Kind Show opens today and I am in heaven.
As you may know by now, I love crafts (do check out our Craft Kick column if you haven’t already). I get so inspired to try my hand at all sorts of stuff: sewing, knitting, woodworking, jewellery making, metal-working. None of these things can I do (though I have a sewing machine and I have done my share of stripping wood furniture), but I dare to dream.
I may check out some of the demos this year to learn about the above techniques – if I can fit it in between all my gawking and shopping. With more than 800 artisans, you kind of have to get right down to business. And that’s what we’re about at MySweetBaby (well, business and shopping).
While the best of the best finds will make their way onto the site over the next few months, we already have a list of favorites. (And do check out faves from the Spring 2010 show, as well.)
- A sophisticated yet playful hat to make your toddler jealous, with its owl embellishment made of recycled leather and vintage glass buttons. By Claudia Schulz.
- A handbag for the literary set, the pocket book purse is created with a vintage book cover sown onto complementary fabric and finished off with handles that were belts once upon a time. By Noelle Hamlyn Snell.
- What is it about ponchos and little girls? We just can’t get enough, especially of Vintage Baby Revival’s washable merino wool version. By Melissa McColl.
If you can make it to The One of a Kind Show, you’re in for a treat. If not, keep checking MySweetBaby for shopping opportunities!
